Sweet Sue. She's all that ever mattered to William. One year ago to the day, his world had ended. On that stormy night, the legendary beast found their ship as it strayed not far from the coast of South Africa. They say the water still glows of a deep red hue, evidence of the horrible nitemare that occurred that night. Of the few stories that sailors told, the tales of the Maelstrom were often the only ones that held any credence, as they were oftentimes told by men with less limbs than they were born with. Maelstrom is a terrible shadow in the deep with teeth that tore wooden hulls and ground flesh with ease. A great white shark who was said to easily push 50 feet in length from nose to tail. His speed in the water was enough to capsize even the largest of crafts. Many sailors tend to exaggerate when recounting tales of Maelstrom. The alcohol helps to bury the truth deep in the recesses of their memory. But William would never forget that night. He could never forget Sue. It didn't matter that the shark took his captain, that guy was a prick. And he was never too fond of his crewmates anyway. Will still had one good leg and he got his wooden peg from a carpenter who took pity on him. William was willing to overlook all the harm done him by that shark even without an apology... except that it took Sue that night as well. And after a year of following sightings and rumors, William had finally found his quarry. The rum he had earlier fueled the burning fires of Sue's memory in his heart. Armed with just his trusty dagger, William faced off against the Maelstrom. From the deep water, the beast greeted him with its horrible smile, as if it remembered the one that got away. But William was filled with so much hate and rage that the water seemed to boil the moment he entered its dark surface. Tonight would be the end for the legendary beast that feasted on generations of sailors. William would get his revenge for his sweet Sue. She was the best parrot a man could ever have.

Wonderful use of the peg leg. Very nice work. And such an odd, yet captivating, vivid image. Nice job indeed.

that. Is. Awesome. Top stuff.

I like the depth of the shark's mouth, and the way the pirate looks as if he's ready to fall off, but at the same time keeping his balance and preparing to strike. ;D
